What is NAHEC?

What We Do

NAHEC is the North Alabama chapter of HEAL, health educators of Alabama, and we serve as a networking platform for health educators in the area to get to know one another, form meaningful connections, and compare notes as everyone works to provide the best possible education for their students.

Our Mission

Foster development and improvement of the health status of the people of North Alabama by providing quality education through the coordinated actions of its members.

Our Goals

  • To work with other health education and training organizations in Alabama to improve the health status of people of North Alabama
  • To identify the education needs of health personnel and healthcare organizations of North Alabama and to foster programs designed to meet those needs
  • To develop and support services for the improvement of the health status of the people of North Alabama through education
  • To work with voluntary, governmental, and other agencies and groups toward achievement of comprehensive healthcare

Hello and welcome to NAHEC!

My name is Kathy LaVere, and I am the current president.

Being a member of NAHEC has allowed me endless opportunities to network with healthcare educators across northern Alabama.

As a clinical education specialist, I am always looking for new ways to engage my staff and to bring new concepts to my department and hospital.

NAHEC is a regional affiliate of HEAL - Healthcare Educators of Alabama. Being a part of NAHEC opens opportunities for others to network, engage, and learn from other educators in our area and the entire state.

Best,
Kathy
